Learning Areas

Success in Learning

Success in learning is achieved through the use of a range of strategies and in the twenty first century learning environment, effective use of technology is a key factor in achieving that success. Students at Kariong Mountains High School undertake a dedicated technology course in Stage 4, designed to provide them with the foundation skills required in all KLAs throughout their schooling career. Additionally, this course delivers information on cyber safety and netiquette.

All students have access to advanced learning in cloud-based technologies, cybersafety, using a range of applications for research and presentations, as well as paying attention to skill development in the basics (word processing; spreadsheets) and typing speed and accuracy.

Woven into these lessons are the future focussed ICT skills of collaboration, creativity and problem solving.

Motivated, high potential and gifted students are supported through enrichment and extension programs, including robotics, drone photography, the Stage 5 STEM elective and virtual reality programs.
